Privacy policy
Last updated: November 8, 2026
This page is a first draft. It is being reviewed and may change before the final version.
This policy explains what data Truca handles when you use the Mac app, your account and the cloud, share links and this website, why, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
Truca is published by [company name · to be completed], [postal address · to be completed]. For any question about your data, write to [contact email · to be completed].
Your account
- What: your email address, your name and your password (stored only as a hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive the name, email address and profile picture of your Google account.
- Sessions: for each signed-in browser we keep the IP address and the browser identifier (user agent), for security. A session lasts 30 days. You can see your active sessions and sign them out in the web app, under Account › Security.
- Mac app: when you connect the Mac app, it receives access tokens tied to your account. You can disconnect it in Account › Security.
- Why: to create your account, sign you in, keep it secure and send you the emails the service needs.
Projects synced to the cloud
- What: the projects you sync: scenes, timeline, notes, the media files you import, the versions you publish, and automatic backups. Each automatic backup records the name of the Mac that made it.
- Backup history: every backup from the last hour, then the most recent one of each hour for 24 hours, then the most recent one of each day for 30 days. Named versions are kept until you delete them.
- Teams: members of a team can see and edit the team’s projects.
- Why: to back up your work, open it on another Mac, restore an earlier state and share it.
Projects you never sync stay on your Mac.
Share links and client comments
- A share link lets anyone who has it watch a version of your video in a browser, without an account. You choose whether it needs a password, whether it expires and whether comments are open, and you can revoke it at any time.
- To comment, a viewer enters a name, an email address and the comment, which is pinned to a moment and a position in the video. The comment is visible to the project’s owner and team, appears in the app and triggers an email notification to the owner.
- To prevent abuse, the IP address of a viewer who comments is used briefly to limit how many comments can be posted.
- Linked pages never show the project’s internal comments, versions or notes.
Emails
We only send emails linked to the service: address confirmation, password reset and password change, email address change, welcome, team invitations, new comments on your projects, and storage almost full or full. No newsletter or advertising.
Error reports
- When the Mac app crashes, freezes or hits certain errors, and when the server or a web page fails, a report is sent to an error tracking service: the type of error, the stack trace, the app version, the macOS version, the Mac model, the language and time zone, and a random installation identifier.
- Reports never contain the content of your projects, project or file names, your email address or your name. IP addresses are not kept.
- You can turn them off in the Mac app: Settings › Privacy › Send error reports.
Usage statistics in the app
- The app records how its features are used (for example opening a project, exporting or sharing) to help us improve Truca.
- These statistics are linked to the email address and name of your account.
- They are hosted in the United States by an analytics provider.
- You can turn them off in the app’s settings (Settings › Privacy).
This website
- We count page views and clicks on the download button, with the language of the page, the button’s position and the version offered.
- No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device. The statistics are not linked to an account; the three analytics providers (the main one hosted in the United States) receive the page address, the referring site and the type of browser and device, and use your IP address only to estimate your country and count visits without identifying you.
- The website itself sets no cookie. The web app only uses the cookie needed to keep you signed in.
Updates
The Mac app checks our servers for new versions and downloads them from there. Like any web request, these requests reach our servers with your IP address and the app version.
Where data is stored and who processes it
- Your account, projects and files are stored with a cloud hosting provider. Emails are sent through an email delivery service.
- Error reports and usage statistics are processed by specialised providers hosted in the United States. [safeguards for transfers outside your country · to be completed]
- We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep data
- Account and projects: until you delete them. Deleting your account (web app, Account › Security) permanently deletes your projects, including those in teams, their files, your share links and your sessions, as well as teams you are the only member of.
- Comments left through a share link: as long as the project exists.
- Error reports and usage statistics: [retention period · to be completed].
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict some processing. Most of it is available directly in the app and the web app; for the rest, write to [contact email · to be completed]. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority that applies to you.
Changes
We will update this page when Truca changes what it collects. The date at the top shows the latest version.
